Monster High Movies

The other day I lucked out, I was able to catch new Monster High movie, Ghouls Rule . I haven't bought the DVD of it yet but I was able to catch a special showing of it on TV. I was also able to catch New Ghoul in School and Ghouls Fall in Love.

So far the only movie to get a DVD for it is Ghouls Rule and that just recently came out in October. However all three of them are great shows to check into if you are a fan of the dolls. You can often see outfits the dolls have in the animations, for example in New Ghoul in School they have the cheer-leading uniforms and the Dawn of the Dance outfits along with their regular ones. I highly recommend checking into these if you have a chance to, they are great for any Monster High fan.

Monster High Knock Offs

As with all popular toys, there will always be knockoffs. Many of these show up at oriental themed fleamarket shops, however drugstores and dollar stores often end up with their own brand of products as well. Monster High has started to get knock off toys, even if they aren't direct knock offs they are definitely following the theme Monster High has created.

These dolls are part of a line called Midnight Magic, there is a website for the dolls that includes part of the story. These dolls come in coffin shaped boxes and are dressed rather simply. The symbols on the box remind me quite a bit of the different symbols that Monster High dolls use. These dolls have arms designed like Monster High with joins that make them easy to pose, however the legs are solid pieces. These dolls are rather cheap compared  to Monster High dolls of course, I got my set at Walgreens on sale. They were buy 2 get the 3rd free, with only spending 13.98 for three dolls, making them 6.99 individually.

Like all knockoffs, whether these are for you is fully up to your preferences. However I find them to be rather cute, so I do recommend them especially the blue skinned doll with her beautiful blue and purple hair. If you are into knockoff toys these are a cheap but good thing to look into getting!

Monster High Ghouls Rule Dolls

This month a new movie came out as a straight to DVD movie. This is the first actual Monster High movie, called Ghouls Rule. Along with this movie a line of dolls have come out with outfits based on the costumes in the movie.

So far to this line there are five dolls, I have been able to get three of them so far. The dolls that are out so far are Draculaura , Clawdeen Wolf , Frankie Stein , Abbey Bominable , and Cleo De Nile . These dolls, as all the Monster High dolls are, are beautifully made and full of details. The dolls come with quite a few accessories compared to other Monster High dolls, including a masquerade mask themed on their costume, a card based on the character's image in the movie, and even accessories to set up a party of your own. Some of the accessories for the party include a silver cauldren filled with a green plastic potion and a cake on a platter that comes with a detachable skeleton hand stand.  These dolls are highly detailed as all Monster High dolls are, especially when it comes to the small details. One of my favorite things about these dolls, is the fact they are in exaggerated versions of their identity making their outfits relate to them even more. Clawdeen has a short hair spot much like Venus McFlytrap has, but hers has a beautiful spotted pattern on it to help with the wild feel of Clawdeen's outfit. One problem I've noticed with almost all Abbey dolls is the hair has a tendency to fall out easily, however I haven't had a problem with this version of Abbey. It seems that they are getting better about preventing that problem from happening, so if you've been avoiding getting the Abbey dolls because of this problem I would suggest trying this one.

I highly recommend getting these dolls, and I hope to personally finish the set myself. Draculaura has beautiful wings to go with her costumes making her one of my most wanted dolls at the moment, and Cleo has a very Egyptian queen feel to her outfit. From the clips I've seen of the movie, these fit very well with the movie and would be great gifts for collectors and children.

Monster High Fashion Packs

First of all I want to apologize for not posting last week, I was extremely sick and couldn't even get on the computer for several days. However I'm back and with a new blog!

So when I got the Dead Tired Dolls I found some fashion packs that I rather like as well. I had never been one for getting just clothes and no doll, after all I don't like changing dolls outfits, but seeing as who they were for I made an exception.

There are several packs out so far in this wave there is Clawdeen Wolf , Lagoona Blue , Abbey Bominable , and Operetta . The fashion packs are beautiful accessories for the dolls, the outfits slipping onto the dolls easily. They are beautifully made and combine well with other monster high clothes. For example, I had problems getting the slippers on my dead tired Abbey so I decided she was no longer at a sleepover and combined parts of her fashion pack with her sleepover attire.
The shirt in her fashion pack easily fits over her night gown. I also have the black fur shawl on a draculaura doll, it looks cute with the pink and black outfit. Because of how easy it is to mix and match these clothes, I highly recommend picking up a fashion pack or two. It gives your dolls new life and makes it more fun to play with them.
