Meowlody and Purrsephone

About a week or so before Christmas I was doing some looking on Toys R Us to find a price of a My Little Pony item I'm interested in, so I can write a blog about it here. However when I got online I decided  to check through Monster High to see if they had anything new. The thing that caught my eye though wasn't new, it was a restock for the holiday season of an exclusive doll set! I immediately ordered the dolls and they came in a couple days before Christmas.

These two werecat sisters were an exclusive released back in April and were quickly sold out online. Their prices had gone through the roof on Amazon, but are now back down to a normal price which you can get by clicking on the link above.  If you are wanting to get it through Toys R Us's website, click here. Either way you'll get a beautiful set of dolls, and both ways of ordering it are pretty smooth and painless.

This set, because it is a double pack, does not come with everything they usually come with. For example, they do not come with stands for the dolls nor do they come with brushes.  Another noticeably lacking item is a pet for them, however it is explained within their Bio why there wasn't one. They had a bird years ago but one of them had developed an allergy so they had to give the bird away. So that seems to be the reason the dolls have no small pet with them, they probably won't until in the stories they get another if they do end up getting a pet. They only come with one diary, the twins have both 'written' in it instead of having two different ones. Out of all the things the doll set is missing, I wish they would have gotten stands with them, they won't stand up on their own unless their tail is against something.

Even with the lack of a stand, so many dolls come with them that don't need them it would be easy to get another doll's stand for them. I have not tried using another stand with them yet, but their tail seems to be different from the other werecat Toralei's, so I don't believe the tail would cause too much of a problem with a stand. The tail can move in a full 360 making it much easier to move out of the way if it is causing a problem. The dolls have beautiful hair that doesn't have the problem of falling out as certain dolls do such as Abbey, however they do have had parts glued together. The main part is their striped streak, however I have found another random part of their hair being glued as well which may just be a factory error with my dolls. Their outfits as always are well made, the twins proving to be like yin and yang with the opposite patterns and colors.  They both have a glove on one hand along with a bunch of bracelets on that arm, with the other only having one bracelet. Their style is rather unique far as Monster High dolls and is an interesting concept,  though their purses follow the usual  theme of the doll with these being red yarn balls.

All in all these are beautiful dolls and the only version of these characters out so far. I highly recommend getting them for your ghoul's collection,  they are well worth the price.

Monster High Scrapbook Kit

During this time of the year many people take hundreds of pictures of friends and family, of events and special times. A lot of people turn to scrapbooking afterwards, and your ghoul can too with the small scrapbooking kit.

I found this kit at Dollar General for five dollars, and it seems one of the few places to get it online is from amazon which you can find through the link above.  This kit is for doing scrapbooking on your wall, which makes it great for decorating your ghoul's wall with memories and Monster High. In this kit according to the front you get 60 pieces, most of it is actually the stickers that come with the set.

Above is what you get, though there is also a black and blue heart that is themed after Frankie Stein. It comes with two frames, which I tried to show by laying them on top of some of the sheets. It also comes with 4 scrapbook sheets, 3 being squares and the 4th being the heart I mentioned earlier. The rest of the pieces are gems, markers, and a variety of stickers which include the sparkling blue sheet. It is not visible from the picture but it is actually a sticker sheet with a variety of character themed stickers such as lightning bolts for Frankie, a pawprint for Clawdeen, and a bat for Draculaura.  The frames have a sticky side on them so you can hang them up, however the sheets do not come with a sticky side. I am not sure how they expect you to use it to scrapbook on your wall unless they want you to tape everything up. The way the scrapbook package is packed up is a rather big pain really, everything is in a small flat box in a tray you can pull out. However everything is taped together leaving you with scotch tape trying to stick to other parts of the kit if you don't use it all right away.

This kit is a cute thing to get for your ghoul to finish off your Monster High Christmas, especially if you can find it at a dollar general store.  I would recommend getting this set even if its just to take the set apart to use for other things, such as the stickers for other projects or the frames and sheets to decorate other things.

Monster High Craft Ideas for Christmas

If you want to fill your ghoul's Christmas with Monster High cheer, then one of the biggest things you can do is Monster High based crafts!

One of the things done most often during Christmas is baking cookies. However did you know you can bake Monster High themed cookies? All it takes is getting cookie cutters to do the special shapes for the cookies. One of the best ways to do this is to get Halloween cookie cutters, many will fit different things dealing with Monster High. There are several different sets out there but one I would recommend getting is the Wilton Halloween Metal Cookie 18-Piece Cutter Set . In this set there are several different shapes that can be used for Monster High cookies, and would be fun for your Ghoul to decorate. These cookies can be made with any recipes you want of course, and if you want to decorate them whatever you choose for it would work as well. There are several other sets of Halloween Cookie cutters out there such as these and these.

Another craft you can do with your kids is make ornaments for the Christmas tree with them. There are several different ways you can do it, for one you can get clear ornaments and Monster High stickers to put on them. If they are ornaments that are clear, you can also take the top off to fill them with glitter to match the Monster High look. The ornaments above I got from Hobby Lobby, though there are several sets on Amazon such as these.  Also far as the stickers go there is a large variety of what you can get, the ones pictured above are actually from an item I will be writing about in my next blog. However other sets you can get include these and these. Another thing you can use with these clear ornaments is decorative tape, such as this Monster High Tapeffiti 5 pack , I personally have never used Tapeffiti before but from what I am seeing it is like scotch tape just with pretty designs on it.

A second ornament idea would require using the photo cards your child gets with the dolls, or even finding the images online to print out will work. You can make a simple frame ornament with craft sticks , the picture, craft glue , and a picture frame hanger . One way you can do it is just make a frame with the sticks, glue them together and then glue the card to the back with the hanger. Depending on the size of your picture you may want to cut the craft sticks in half so they will fit the picture better.Another way you can do it is to double the frame so there is space at the top to just slide the picture in without having to glue it in place. There is a variety of ways you can do this ornament, and you can decorate the frame in any way you and your ghoul want.

Finally a craft you can do to make your Ghoul's Christmas Monster High filled, is one that you have to do yourself unless of course your Ghoul is an adult. You can do a Monster High stocking for them, with one of your regular stockings and a Monster High iron on transfer. There are a few different ones available on Etsy, however there is a website specializing in iron on transfers with many different Monster High ones here.

I hope these craft ideas will help you fill your Ghoul's holiday with Monster High Cheer~! I have done two other blogs to give ideas, one being about stocking stuffers and the other about wrapping paper.

Monster High Wrapping Paper

Hey welcome to the second week of Holiday ideas to make your little ghoul's holiday monster high filled! This week there is Monster High decorated presents!

Above is a square of wrapping paper I cut out from a tube I bought off amazon, link above. The graphics on it are great, featuring the torn ghoul design they have used on random items including a pencil case that was available when school supplies were being sold. The graphic sadly does not include my favorite monsters, such as Abbey and Spectra, but it does have the group that usually shows up on merchandise. Its standard wrapping paper that comes on a 30 inch tube, the total amount you get is 12.5 square feet. There are also a variety of gift bags that I haven't gotten, but I imagine are the same as regular gift bags of course, here and here.

These things will help make your ghoul's holidays a monster high one! Make sure to check back next week for the next holiday tip!

Monster High Stocking Stuffers

Christmas is around the corner and you may be wanting to make your ghoul's Christmas a fantastic Monster High filled one. Now the obvious thing to get would be the dolls of course, but there are a lot of other ways you can fill it with Monster High! For one thing there's always the stocking that needs to be filled!

One of the obvious things to get would be small items like the ones above. At stores such as dollar general you can find these cute monster high lip glosses for your ghoul! There are two different styles out right now, a roll on and a glitter squeeze but I have only found 2 different balms for each so far. Though if you can't find these at your store you could always get a party pack of lipbalms such as these . I have not tried the party packs yet, however I can tel you that the two styles pictured up above are awesome.

Depending on the size of the stocking you are filling, you could possibly put in the flashlight shown above! The little flashlight is great for telling stories in the dark or even just adding a bit of light to a ghouls life. I personally found mine at walmart several months back, however you can also find it here. It runs on two Double A batteries and throws out quite a bit of light with the bulb being a bright LED light. There are other monster high flashlights I haven't tried out yet like this one and this one.

These are just a few stocking stuffer ideas to make your ghoul's Christmas perfect. Make sure to check back next week for another Christmas idea!

Monster High Photo Cards

A few friends of mine in the UK told me about a cool Monster High thing we didn't have here in the US. They were photocards that you buy in packs like trading cards, with 108 possibilities of what you can get.  When I went to the store the other day, I saw that we were now getting the photocards as well!

Front of the Envelope (left) Back of the envelope (right)

The photocards come in a simple envelope,  with 6 in the package for only a couple bucks. The photos that come with it are a variety of art styles and come in both portrait and landscape form.

They are beautifully printed and include a variety of characters, in a variety of outfits. Some of them are in the poster book I wrote about last week, while others are fully new.  These photos would fit in a standard 5x7 album, however if the starter pack comes to the US you can get that and get a binder with a checklist, and a couple 6 card packs.  However if you don't want to wait, you can get it from an eBay seller, such as this one (However that one seems to be sold out now as of January, I have found this one though. )

The artwork on these photos is absolutely beautiful, and I highly recommend picking up a few packs if you see them. I found these in the trading card section of my store, check for them the next time you're at the store!

Monster High Poster Book

The other day while I was at the store, I noticed something in the poster section that I hadn't seen before. I of course had to pick it up and look at it, it was Monster High after all! When I saw exactly what it was, I had to get it!

This poster book is filled with 12 different 8.5x11 posters to decorate your monster high room with. The posters are beautiful, for the most part are colored though there is a grayscale poster and others that focus on black and white with a pink accent.

One of the best things about these posters is there's one that has Spectra on it. Granted, she's not a big part of the picture, but it is a nice change to what I have been seeing on posters and merchandise. It is actually the first time I've seen spectra included on anything besides her doll items and costumes of course.  This may be a sign that they will start including her on more things. I was able to find this book for five dollars at my store, though I'm not sure if its available at stores besides Walmart.

I highly recommend this poster book! It comes with perforated lines making it easy to get the posters out to decorate your room with!

Monster High Apptivity Figures and Game

Well, they have finally come out! Wednesday last week I had to go to the store to pick some stuff up, and out of habit I went over to check on the apptivity stuff. I think I may have freaked out some people near me when I yelled out YES! as I saw this beautiful figurine sitting there to buy!

There weren't many in the store when I was there, seems they are getting grabbed off the shelves pretty quickly so I was only able to get Frankie Stein. Even so, I know I will get the others in the set, Draculaura , Clawdeen Wolf , and Lagoona Blue . The figures price wise are alright, being ten dollars a figurine. However they are made beautifully, with quite a bit of detail put into them. Even just as a collectors item, these would be a good things to get! However I realize you all are not here just for the figurine, you gotta be curious about the game as well right? Well when you get the figure there is a card in the box that tells how to download the app.

The app itself right now, is an alright game. You can kinda play the different sections with just one character, but they seem laggy in response compared to Frankie's section so it may be best to just wait to get the other figures. Frankie's game is simple, you go around a class room picking up ingredients for a science experiment. When it goes wrong you create a metal storm you have to escape from. At the end of this, there is a thing that says 'to be continued' so with more updates there will be more parts of the games. I checked out the other games as best as I could, they all seem pretty easy however Draculaura's interested me the most. She's at a carnival with Clawd and wants to win goblins, so she has to play games. I wasn't able to get to one of the games because of not having Draculaura, so I'm not sure if its a game within a game or not. The cut scenes are cute, they are done in a comic book style and feature many different characters depending on what story you are working on. The animation in the game is also well done, the 3D animation being smooth like the movie animations are.

All in all, I definitely recommend this. It is a great, if a bit simple right now, game plus the figures are really cute. They are a great addition to any monster high collection, and I'm sure your little ghouls would love playing with them.

Monster High Movies

The other day I lucked out, I was able to catch new Monster High movie, Ghouls Rule . I haven't bought the DVD of it yet but I was able to catch a special showing of it on TV. I was also able to catch New Ghoul in School and Ghouls Fall in Love.

So far the only movie to get a DVD for it is Ghouls Rule and that just recently came out in October. However all three of them are great shows to check into if you are a fan of the dolls. You can often see outfits the dolls have in the animations, for example in New Ghoul in School they have the cheer-leading uniforms and the Dawn of the Dance outfits along with their regular ones. I highly recommend checking into these if you have a chance to, they are great for any Monster High fan.

Monster High Knock Offs

As with all popular toys, there will always be knockoffs. Many of these show up at oriental themed fleamarket shops, however drugstores and dollar stores often end up with their own brand of products as well. Monster High has started to get knock off toys, even if they aren't direct knock offs they are definitely following the theme Monster High has created.

These dolls are part of a line called Midnight Magic, there is a website for the dolls that includes part of the story. These dolls come in coffin shaped boxes and are dressed rather simply. The symbols on the box remind me quite a bit of the different symbols that Monster High dolls use. These dolls have arms designed like Monster High with joins that make them easy to pose, however the legs are solid pieces. These dolls are rather cheap compared  to Monster High dolls of course, I got my set at Walgreens on sale. They were buy 2 get the 3rd free, with only spending 13.98 for three dolls, making them 6.99 individually.

Like all knockoffs, whether these are for you is fully up to your preferences. However I find them to be rather cute, so I do recommend them especially the blue skinned doll with her beautiful blue and purple hair. If you are into knockoff toys these are a cheap but good thing to look into getting!

Monster High Ghouls Rule Dolls

This month a new movie came out as a straight to DVD movie. This is the first actual Monster High movie, called Ghouls Rule. Along with this movie a line of dolls have come out with outfits based on the costumes in the movie.

So far to this line there are five dolls, I have been able to get three of them so far. The dolls that are out so far are Draculaura , Clawdeen Wolf , Frankie Stein , Abbey Bominable , and Cleo De Nile . These dolls, as all the Monster High dolls are, are beautifully made and full of details. The dolls come with quite a few accessories compared to other Monster High dolls, including a masquerade mask themed on their costume, a card based on the character's image in the movie, and even accessories to set up a party of your own. Some of the accessories for the party include a silver cauldren filled with a green plastic potion and a cake on a platter that comes with a detachable skeleton hand stand.  These dolls are highly detailed as all Monster High dolls are, especially when it comes to the small details. One of my favorite things about these dolls, is the fact they are in exaggerated versions of their identity making their outfits relate to them even more. Clawdeen has a short hair spot much like Venus McFlytrap has, but hers has a beautiful spotted pattern on it to help with the wild feel of Clawdeen's outfit. One problem I've noticed with almost all Abbey dolls is the hair has a tendency to fall out easily, however I haven't had a problem with this version of Abbey. It seems that they are getting better about preventing that problem from happening, so if you've been avoiding getting the Abbey dolls because of this problem I would suggest trying this one.

I highly recommend getting these dolls, and I hope to personally finish the set myself. Draculaura has beautiful wings to go with her costumes making her one of my most wanted dolls at the moment, and Cleo has a very Egyptian queen feel to her outfit. From the clips I've seen of the movie, these fit very well with the movie and would be great gifts for collectors and children.
